Hi, I’m Rhea, the owner and esthetician of Double Standard Skin & Wax. I’ve been in the skincare industry for 10 years and opened my boutique shop two years ago to offer facials, skincare, waxing and lash extensions to the Portland community.
The Face Behind The Place
I love connecting with people and making them feel special, beautiful, and confident in their skin. I know firsthand how important that is. As a teenager, I struggled with bad skin and tried every home remedy I could to heal it. It only made my skin worse. (Shocking, I know.)
My skin—and life—changed when I found the right professionals and product lines to care for me. The results were amazing, but what I loved more was bonding with the women who helped me. My skincare appointments became my “me time,” and I looked forward to them every month.
I soon realized I wanted to be that person for others and help them find skin clarity and confidence while eliminating stress and guesswork. I went to the Aveda esthetician school in New York’s vibrant SoHo neighborhood and had goosebumps the first time I administered a facial. I knew this was the field I belonged in.
I’m from Reno, Nevada and have lived everywhere from the mountains of Colorado to the beaches of Costa Rica, but I came to Portland seven years ago to be closer to my family. I am just as in love with this city as I am with my clients—they each have a uniqueness, edge, and faint familiarity, like a friendship I never tire of exploring.
Anyone who walks into my boutique can instantly relax, knowing they’re in a safe space to unwind in the care of an expert. It’s our time to have fun, let loose, and get the gossip going in an intimate, trusting environment. (This goes for the guys, too!)
I pamper my clients with the highest quality products I can get my hands on. One of the biggest benefits of owning my studio is having complete control and knowledge over the products I sell. I don’t use anything that doesn’t meet my rigorous standards.
I look forward to getting to know you and bringing your skin back into balance.
